Last night the 100 Club staged one of the most momentous events in it's long and illustrious history when The Specials stepped onto it's old stage and produced one of the most incredible performances ever seen in it's 67 years. It was much more though, than just a warm up for their show at Glastonbury. Over the last few years, we have built a very strong relationship with Fred Perry, our only outside partner. Through Fred Perry, The Specials became aware of an increasing financial uncertainty and insecurity surrounding the club and a real risk to it's independence as a result. They decided that they would like to donate their fee from the show to the 100 Club, an unprecedented act of generosity and a mark of their understanding of the importance of independent venues. I would like to make everyone aware of this remarkable gesture and thank The Specials, John Flynn at Fred Perry, James Daly at Fred Perry, Steve Blackwell (Specials Manager), Sue Collier (Tour Manager), the crew, Hall or Nothing PR, Jenny Angus (100 Club Events Manager) and all the magnificent staff at the 100 Club for making this unforgettable night possible.
