OUR MAN IN THE FIELD

Thursday, 6th November 2025

Our Man in the Field is the sonic alter ego of British songwriter Alex
Ellis—a project hitting its creative stride with a sound that’s both
expansive and intimate. Ellis’s vivid storytelling and unmistakable
tenor have drawn comparisons to Ray LaMontagne, Damien Rice, and
Wilco, but his voice is entirely his own. Blending Americana, indie-
folk, and cinematic soul, he crafts songs that feel like short films—
emotional, unvarnished, and built to last.

2025 is shaping up to be a breakthrough year for Our Man in the
Field. The band recently played acclaimed sets at SXSW in Austin,
Texas and the Kilkenny Roots Festival in Ireland, earning praise for
their captivating live presence. Ahead lie some major milestones,
including a debut performance at the Royal Albert Hall in May as part
of the Highways Festival, an appearance on Glastonbury’s Acoustic
Stage in June, and a support slot for none other than Neil Young at
London’s Hyde Park.
