“The melodies float from heaven to hell like Burt Bacharach standards. A sophisticated realm of edgy, romantic pop” Rolling Stone Magazine

“Broken souls, doomed romance and dislocated lives, all underscored by a lonely lustfulness.” The Guardian (Album of The Week)

“These songs evoke a swirling rapture of the deep reminiscent of David Bowie, Bryan Ferry and Nick Cave at their most unguardedly romantic…a sophisticated and unsettling sound.” New York Times

After more than ten years apart, critically acclaimed purveyors of rich, dark pop music Cousteau have returned.

Cousteau is the distinctive, magical voice of Irishman Liam McKahey and the beautiful, bittersweet songs of Davey Ray Moor. Theirs is an evocative, romantic blend reminiscent of David Bowie, Nick Cave, Scott Walker and Burt Bacharach.

In 2001, Cousteau swept the world. Signed to Island Records founder Chris Blackwell’s Palm Pictures imprint, the group sold more than 300,000 records worldwide, perpetuated by glowing reviews and appearances on renowned broadcasts like The Late Late Show in the US and Later With Jools Holland in the UK. Cousteau sound-tracked a global Nissan advertising campaign and enjoyed three well-received albums and five years touring the globe together.

Cousteau are currently working on a new album for release in 2017.

Check out the new single “The Innermost Light” co-wrriten and featuring Carl Barat of The Libertines.
