‘Andate a Dormir Voz’ Tour
Kapanga is an Argentinian band who mix cuarteto, rock and ska from Quilmes, Buenos Aires. The band is widely recognized for creating a party feel with great charisma and happy and danceable rhythms.
Founded in 1989 by Martín “Mono” Fabio and Marcelo “Balde” Spósito as Kapanga y sus Yacarés, in honor of Kapanga el Misionero, a character from the wrestling show Titanes en el Ring.
That first stage was spent hosting private parties and performing songs by La Mona Jiménez, soon to change their name to Kapanga.
In 1997 they released their debut album “A 15 cm de la Realidad”, with their debut which reached Gold in their native country. This was followed by a dozen albums and many singles, taking Kapanga to becoming one of the most popular bands in Argentina.
When everyone asks what gender Kapanga responds to, they say:
“The band is against labels; music is one and the rest are genres, we combine everything without prejudice. The band has many influences, but the ones we all share are The Beatles, Mano Negra, Divididos or Bob Marley”
They make their debut UK show at 100 Club on Tuesday 10th September as part of their ‘Andate a Dormir Voz’ Tour.
