SHAWN LEE’S PING PONG ORCHESTRA

We’re pleased to welcome Shawn Lee’s Ping Pong Orchestra to the 100 Club for a headline show on Sunday 24 May, courtesy of our friends at AGMP.

Shawn Lee grew up in Wichita, Kansas listening to Sly Stone & The Isley Brothers. His first group, Lotus, featured country superstar Martina McBride. After moving to Los Angeles and playing with legendary producers The Dust Brothers, Shawn moved to London in 1995 where he signed to Gilles Peterson’s Talkin’ Loud label. His album recorded for the label was never released but his next label, Wall of Sound, released the “Monkey Boy” album which featured cult hit “Happiness” which was remixed by Ashley Beedle and later covered by Will Young.
